The Napoli youth academy product has gone on to confess the hardships that he faced through his life to be at the point where he is and what he had to give up on.
The former Pescara attacking player has had to fend for himself for most of his life as he lived in a tough neighbourhood. He worked hard throughout his career to be where he is; and his experiences have made him realise how privileged he has been. He further
went on to state that he does not take anything for granted, as things did not fall in his path and he had to fight for his place wherever he went.
The youngster rose to prominence after playing part in the Biancazzurri’s quest for promotion to the top tier of Italian football. They promoted from the Serie B into the Serie A. The Azzurrini star was instrumental in their success, as he went on to score
on 18 occasions for the Delfini.
Insigne credits a lot of his development to the guidance of Zdenek Zeman, the former Pescara boss; and the player holds the Czech tactician in the highest of regards. However, despite the tutelage of Zeman in his development, Insigne conceded that he had
made it his goal to be a professional football player. He went on to comment the countless sacrifices he had to make in his quest to be a player in the top tier of Italian football.

the big leagues, and make his mark in the Serie A.
While talking to Corriere del Mezzogiorno magazine, the youngster went on to state:
“I gave up on fun, staying with friends and even going to school. It’s not as if I particularly enjoyed school anyway, but at 6am I’d go to the market to sell clothes. Otherwise, how was I going to buy my boots and shinpads?”
Regarding the place where he grew up as a child, Insigne said:
“It wasn’t easy to keep this dream alive, because in the Frattamaggiore area where I was born, there were many... distractions. It’s a difficult place to grow up.”
Insigne credits his family for protecting him from all the bad influence he could have picked up.
