Thanks to an answer to my last question by Wiggysan. Whom I have no reason to doubt. he is usually on the money. I got to thinking. besides the Tyres and the electronics. the clothing intrigues me. Not only the coating to reduse friction. but the protection factor. does the belief that a rider is not going to be hurt allow him to go faster. I know this sounds like a no brainer. but when I think about it. all these riders have been hurt at some point (badly) I know its a psychological fight to start with. but does putting on a NEW set of leathers allow the rider to go faster.

  2. I thank you for the comment.

Remember when Edwards was on the old YFF 750 Yamaha in WSB with team mate Nagi ( R.I.P , Assen ) ?

They were the first, and I think last, to try out using " gold ball style dimples " on there leathers.

I dont think it helped much, but it goes with what your saying about every little helps.

After doing a little bit of endurance racing here in the UK, I found that so much of the [ go faster ] factor was money. If you were racing in your own leathers / boots / lid and so on, and you crashed, it was down to YOU  to replace it.

I know the top rider do need to worry about money, but it really does get to coming through the ranks.

Maybe it is hard wired into us all. New suit on the way, means I can trash this one whilest gunning it!

    Who knows !
