Lorie Kane ready to take on rivals at Virginia
Canadian Lorie Kane, who is in the Kingsmill Championship 2012 roster, may not be able to fill up a leaderboard with eye-popping scores, but she has what it takes to rattle her rivals.
The Kingsmill Championship 2012 is going to be played from September 6-9 at Williamsburg, Virginia, with the participation of the most the prominent LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars.
However, Kane is going to be the strongest Canadian contender in the field. The Canadian golfer will certainly be grabbing attention if her putting and swing do not bother her on the course this time.
Given the recent past, Kane’s performance has been inconsistent and shaky in the final two rounds of the tournaments she has participated in, making it difficult for her to post a big score.
The 47-year-old star has been seeking to end her victory drought since she last impressed her fans at the LPGA Takefuji Classic in 2001. Kane won her last title in grand style as she fired an overall score of 205 in the three-round tournament, beating Swedish Annika Sorenstam by two strokes.
However, despite her failing to find her lost from in recent years, Kane still has not lost hope as she has vowed to end her protracted victory drought in coming months.
Observers say that her ambition to keep moving ahead is what has helped her boost her fan following. They pointed out that despite a slump in her game, Kane is a low-risk golfer, who plays the fairways and greens intelligently and always tries to stay ahead of the roster.
Although high in spirits, Kane will have to battle tough contenders such as the current world number one Yani Tseng, Stacy Lewis, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie and Na Yeon Choi.
“I think if I can inject some legend experience, I didn’t play college golf, I went to school at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, played field hockey and basketball,” Kane recounted her early days in golf.
“I have talked to Jenn and some of the other younger players who were in college and finished college, and said, you know, as of 2006 when the economy went to c**p, the Tour, we suffered, and we’re just coming out on the other end of it. So the LPGA Tour’s only going to be stronger within the next couple of years”.
