Lorient striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Gameiro-c20721 spices up Arsenal-Tottenham Rivalry
The North London Rivals, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are believed to be involved in another rivalry, but this time it’s going to be off the field as both the clubs look interested in signing Lorient striker, Kevin Gameiro.
Gameiro currently plays his football in the French Ligue 1 side Lorient and has been a shining star for the
Les Merlus. The striker joined the club from another French club RC Strasbourg in 2008 and since then hasn’t looked back.
Both Arsene Wenger and Harry Redknapp have expressed their desire in signing the French international in the coming summer transfer window but it won’t be an easy job as both the managers are expected to go head to head in their bids.
Arsenal are reported to be offering 15 million pounds for the 23-year-old, which puts them in a seemingly stronger position as compared to Tottenham, who have reportedly lined-up a 9-million pound bid for the player.
There is a belief around that the striker won't be a cheap buy and therefore both Arsenal and Spurs will have to rethink about their bids. Also, earlier in the season, Gunners successfully captured Lorient defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Laurent-Koscielny-c21742 for 8 million pounds.
Lorient, on the other hand are short of cash and as a result the Les Merlus will have to sell one or two of their stars to be in a position of signing some other notable names.
Redknapp, on the other hand wants Gameiro in his side to bolster his attack after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robbie-Keane-c31215 is currently loaned off to West Ham United.
Spurs, who were hammered 3-1 by the Championship promoted side Blackpool on Tuesday, desperately need someone reliable in their attack after they missed a number of chances that fell to them especially in the 2nd half, and that too from just 5
to 6 yards out.
"In the second half, it was incredible watching it - missing chances from four or five yards like it was going out of fashion," Redknapp said after the match.
Redknapp was clearly frustrated by his strike force in the game against the Tangerines and their loss has once again opened the race for the Champions League spot between them, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
"There are balls dropping onto their heads and we are waiting for them to head it into the goal from five yards out and they are not scoring." added the frustrated Hotspur coach.
It is highly likely that the 23-year-old will land in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 during the summer transfers and Arsenal look to be the favourites in capturing him as they did for Koscielny earlier in the season.
