Loris Capirossi ready to return with Ducati for MotoGP 2011 season – MotoGP news
Loris Capirossi returning to Ducati this season finished his first official test last week at the Sepang International Circuit. The Italian rider seemed to experience a great potential in the new GP11.
Capirossi finished overall 13th at the first official test in Sepang February 1-3.Whereas his teammate Randy de Puniet finished 14th overall.
After riding Suzuki GSV-R for three seasons, Capirossi needed some time to get familiar with the high potential on the new GP11. He also had to adjust his riding style with Ducati machine as its totally different breed from Suzuki he rode previously
since 2007.
The Italian rider played with Pramac Racing Ducati from his debut at MotoGP in 2003 for five years until 2007, shifting to Suzuki. In his Suzuki era Capirossi fished 10th in 2008, ninth in 2009 and 16th in 2010.
Capirossi says, “I really like the team and I'm happy to be working with the Ducati bike once again. I have to change my riding style a little bit because I rode the Suzuki for three years, and that is completely different.”
“Whenever you make a big change (of bike) it's not so easy overall, and of course this bike is very different to the one I rode in the past. The bike has its own style and we just have to understand that,” he added.
As seen this season carries many drivers shifting their plane of strike. Capirossi is also one of the players shifting. His appearance with Pramac Racing concluded finishing seventh in championship on Ducati Corse GP7, until now the news came, Capirossi
joining Pramac.
Loris Capirossi will continue his testing and adjusting to new GP11 through the second test February 22-24, and the last preseason test at Losail, Qatar March 13-14. The Italian rider is confident to get GP11 into his hands by the season opener race
at Qatar.
Pramac is running through his 10th season in MotoGP is confident with Capirossi and knows that he is considered the icon of MotoGP World Championship as his career spans over 20 years in MotoGP.
Capirossi’s career holds the win for 29 Grands Prix, vanquished 99 podium places and three World Championships. One of those is in 125cc class even claiming the youngest World Champion in same class and one for 250cc level.
