Los Angeles Amtrak question?

I'm looking at Google street view for the Los Angeles Amtrak Station. Does this station also share the same building with the Union station red metro line Union Station or are there signs pointing in a direction to find this Amtrak station?

As well if you get off a bus at E Cesar and E Chavez Ave is this surrounding community safe to walk in to get to the Amtrak station?

Finally, if you are going to the Fullerton station (FUL) from Union Station, or back, can you be guaranteed a seat during peak and non peak hours?

  1. Yes, they are the same building. The neighborhood is completely safe during the day. At night it is as safe as possible for a poorer neighborhood considering that LAPD headquarters is only a couple blocks away. And during peak hours you can never be guaranteed a seat. In any city.

  2. Union Station in downtown LA serves as LA's Amtrak station, the hub for the Southern California Metrolink system, the red line subway and gold line light rail, and several bus lines as well.

  3. its all part of the same building (metro headquarters are there as well)

yes you mostly likely will get  seat (if you use metrolink )

not sure about amtrak (unless you want to pay extra and travel in their

    business class section)

but I have never really see Metrolink full (although i dont usually ride during peak hours)

note union station is also the starting poiint for not only the Red/purple line but also the gold line

and is patrol by not only LAPD but the LA county sheriff and Amtrak police as well as Metro secuirty plus their own secuirty offiicers as well

the main enrtrance to union station is on Alamdea street

    (near Los Angeles street)
