Los Angeles Angels' Dan Haren seems confident this spring – MLB News
The Los Angeles Angels’ starting pitcher Dan Haren is felling comfortable in this spring and looking extremely positive ahead of next Major League Baseball season. He recently completed a wonderful 2012 Spring Training and now looking to impress in the regular season as well.
"Bad swings, surprising looks … I'm happy with how the opposing hitters have looked and taking that confident feeling into the season. My game is location, control, keeping hitters off balance," Haren said. "I'm just trying to miss barrels, Whether it's a two-seam fastball that runs a little bit or a cutter that moves three or four inches to get it off the barrel, that's the difference between a home run and a fly ball or ground ball.”
A nine-year veteran and highly experienced individual, Dan Haren has certainly done some hard work in this offseason. Even though he came in the Angels’ roster in 2010, but prior to play in the Angels’, Haren played in the St. Louis Cardinals along with Oakland Athletics, and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Two years back, when Haren was traded into the Angels’ franchise, he not only adjusted well in the roster, but soon he earned name as best pitcher in the team. Last year, he went with relatively good pitching at 3.17 ERA along with 1.02 WHIP and 192 strikeouts. Overall his career 3.59 ERA along with 1.17 and 1443 strikeouts also enlighten many regarding his brilliance.
In the meanwhile, this year, the Angels are feeling also comfortable with their rotation which includes Jared Weaver, Dan Haren, C.J. Wilson, Ervin Santana, Jerome Williams, Jordan Walden, Scott Downs, LaTroy Hawkins, Bobby Cassevah, Rich Thomson, Hisanori Takahashi, Jason Isringhausen and Kevin Jepsen.
Looking at Angels 2012 projected rotation, there is a fair chance for the Angels that they must capitalise as how strong pitching line-up they have this season. While on the other hand, this rotation looks good and can lead them into new beginning where they can win games with great ease. The Angels’ this time know as they are competing with a quite different strategy of less defensive and more offensive and in order to play at consistent pace they better be adapting this strategy first.
