Los Angeles Angels' Tyler Chatwood crush Los Angeles Dodgers by 6-1: MLB Update
The American League’s Los Angeles Dodgers overpowered their state rivals, Los Angeles Dodgers, in the second-straight night by 6-1, at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, on Saturday night, June 25.
The Angels’ starter, Tyler Chatwood, took out five batters and allowed only one run on four hits over seven innings to take his back-to-back to win after he won his last game against the New York Mets on June 19. Before making this win, he had gone
through three consecutive losses one each two by Kansas City Royals and one by Tampa Bay Rays.
The Angels’ Manager, Mike Scioscia, seems impressed too with the performance Chatwood expressed despite having such a pressure on his shoulders.
Scioscia said, "He was impressive, not only with his velocity and movement but with his poise. Even though he walked in a run, he was still focused in making pitches."
He allowed his and the Club’s only run on a walk to the Dodgers’ catcher, Andrew James Ellis, in the fifth inning. Beside this walk, Chatwood allowed two more walks on his spell extended to 113 pitches.
"Everything was right on time, the mechanics were good," Chatwood said. "It's always awesome when you're throwing strikes."
His reliever, Scott Downs, and closer, Trevor Bell, both did not allow any run in their one inning each spell while his batters also provided him the perfect back up with the bat. Erick Aybar led the game off with an RBI single in the third inning.
Mark Trumbo launched the first of the two homers in the fourth inning. After this inning, the Dodgers made back up.
Their starter Hiroki Kuroda allowed two run on three hits and walked one, while taking out two batters over his five innings spell. His reliever, Kenley Jansen, tossed perfect sixth and the seventh inning to provide his batters a chance to comeback
in the game, but the Dodgers' strong batting line-up failed.
In the eighth inning, the Angels again snatched their momentum back and piled up four runs including a dazzling homer by Vernon Wells against the Dodgers’ reliever, Matt Guerrier. With a three-run 405-feet long homer, Wells improved his home-run hitting
record to eight along with 23 RBIs in 2011.
However, after this hit, the Dodgers completely lost all hopes and went for their second straight loss by the Angels in the interleague series and 44th overall defeat, one of the biggest numbers of defeats in this season.
