Los Angeles Angels' manager Mike Scioscia praises Dan Haren’s pitching abilities – MLB Update
Though starting pitcher Dan Haren has found another Major League Baseball franchise but still his former team’s manager is praising him and appreciating his pitching abilities which he has been displaying with enormous accuracy.
Mike Scioscia, the Angels' current manager, has recently spoken in the media and told reporters that in his view, Haren is one of the best competitors he has ever managed during his managerial career.
“Danny’s one of the best competitors I’ve ever seen on the mound, Although a scout might evaluate him in the stands and see that his stuff isn’t quite as crisp as it was three or four years ago, it’s still good,” Scioscia said as he explained about Haren and his extraordinary pitching talents.
He added with more detail, “He knows how to pitch. His ability to understand what he needs to do, his ability to get back in the counts, his ability to put hitters away, is still there. It might not be as brilliant as it was three years ago. He can still pitch. You’re not going to find anybody that competes better than Dan Haren.”
Haren was a key member of Los Angeles Angels during the last Major League Baseball season. He performed beautifully and showed his true offensive class. Though he could have received another deal from the Angels for next potential season but with some complexities of contract, his agent advised him to accept Washington Nationals’ offer and signed with them for one year.
Proving a good starter all season long, Haren finished the last season on a high note with 4.33 ERA along 12-13 win-loss, 142 strike-outs and 1.29 WHIP. The level of performance he showed during the last season, many earlier believed that Haren will be re-signing with the Angels again but at the last moment, he signed with the Nationals.
Haren also possesses a good nine-year career ERA of 3.66 and 1.18 WHIP. Experts believe that his new team Washington Nationals will get enormous benefit from his presence. Nationals’ performance was also consistent last season but with a new good starting pitcher, their output will be more target-oriented.
