After playing 17 years in Major League seasons, Garret Anderson, an outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels is retiring with no misgivings but only bright memories. These memories were of 2002 and a World Series contest for the Angels and California.
He declared his retirement on March 1, 2011 while speaking at a conference call. He said, "My proudest achievement can't be anything individual, because I can't share it with anybody. It's one of the things I hold near and dear. It was seven months with
those guys. ... Those memories I'll always keep close to me."
If one could go through the history of Anderson, then he comes to know that he joined the Major Leagues temporarily in 1994 and wanted to stay the entire season. He had batting average of .321 straight away in 106 games. His power statistics steadily improved
until he exploded in 2000 with 35 home-runs and 117 RBIs.
One of the most silently prolific players of his age bracket, Anderson was typically honest when he was inquired about the complexity in starting the game that was his enthusiasm for so many years as a proficient player.
After having 15 seasons with the Angels, Anderson used up 2009 with the Atlanta Braves and 2010 as a key player for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He acknowledged no Major League free-agent proposal, but had a few indications about captivating a Minor League contract
and eager to catch on with a club.
When 38-year-old Anderson retires, he had a career average of.293 with 287 homers, 1084 runs, 1365 RBIs and scored 2529 hits.
Anderson told the media that there was nothing merit based. At the end of his career, it would have been a Minor League request for starting the season at team's Triple-A. He wouldn't wish to go down that path.
The way that Anderson passed through always appeared so much flatter than it really was, given his extraordinary elegance and calm with comfortable mode. He also made enormously tricky job look simple and occasionally created the unawareness that he didn't
concern enough.
At the end of the conference, Anderson stated that, "Playing on the West Coast hampered that a lot, more than any perception publicly. The guys are assembling teams on who is putting up numbers. I played a year on the East Coast with Atlanta, and it's a
huge difference on the East Coast.”
Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia appreciated the efforts of Anderson and stated that he was an unbelievable player, one with a calm character and quiet self-reliance that permitted him to stand out in the game.
Anderson’s position in the Angels’ club was not flashy. He had a superb passion to play the game and a deep consideration of how to play to win, which was very essential to his team. The team officials want nothing from him and his family but to have best
wishes for his next portion of life.
