Los Angeles Angels’ Jered Weaver pleased with his pitching performance – MLB News
Jered Weaver is working hard to remain in top form and be an effective line of defence for the Los Angeles Angels during the MLB regular season.
Not only is Weaver pleased with his pitching performance, but the Angels are also satisfied with the results of his intense work-out sessions. His hard work is paying off, as against the Cincinnati Reds Weaver managed to strike-out two and only gave up a
single run as the Angels took a 2-1 win at Tempe Diablo Stadium on March 1.
Weaver understands the importance of being able to mix up the deliveries and give some variations to the batters in order to keep them guessing. He knows that a confused batter becomes frustrated and can make costly mistakes.
Regarding his performance in the game against the Reds, Weaver said, "In a game you get a little amped up, so you want to stay calm and work through [catcher] Hank [Conger]. I hit some spots, threw the ball where I wanted. My offspeed stuff was good."
Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia is also relatively satisfied with the way Weaver is putting in the extra work to become even more effective for the team on defence. Scioscia was happy with the performance of Weaver during the game against the Reds as he managed
to pitch some excellent fastballs and breaking balls.
Weaver is all too familiar with the strengths of the batters that many of the top teams possess in their line-ups. He will be looking to put in an extra effort in order to get his pitching up to par for the regular season.
During the regular season, the intensity and competitiveness levels increase, as each team is looking to come out aggressively and take the pitchers on early. Weaver, being a starting pitcher, understands the importance of being able to deliver for the team
when they need him. He especially is getting prepared to get his pitching at the point of being able to restrict some of the top offensive line-ups in the League.
However, in order to get to that level, Weaver will be looking to put in extra work-out sessions with both bat and ball. The Angels will be watching Weaver during the spring session to gauge his fitness and strength levels. This is the best time to get him
some pitching time in before the grueling regular season starts.
It will be interesting to see the impact that Weaver will have for the Angels as he is determined to put in an amazing performance and increase his efforts on the defence. As the regular season is right around the corner, Weaver looks ready.
