Los Angeles Angels’ Jerome Williams talks about bad outing against the Texas Rangers
Jerome Williams recently pitched 1.1 innings against the Texas Rangers at Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Tuesday, September 27. The Angels pitcher was ineffective against the American League West leaders as the club went on to lose 3-10.
Williams came in to the fixture to replace Tyler Chatwood. His 2.2 innings of ball throwing earned him four runs from seven hits. Williams stint on the mound also piled on runs as he conceded four runs from four hits. The player managed to do little against
the Texans as the game moved out of reach for the Angels. Williams ended his season with four wins and zero losses as he continues to offer a slight edge to the Angels in pitching cover.
His latest outing will frustrate many fans at home as the player allowed three homers in the fifth. Nelson Cruz, Mike Napoli and Adrian Beltre all smashed solo homers against the star hurler. Manager Mike Scioscia had nothing to say about the terrible outing
as the player took the opportunity to talk of his stint on the mound, after the game had ended.
"I just tried to go out there and execute pitches. It is one of those nights where you have to tip your hat," Williams said.
The manager also favored the hurler’s opinion on falling behind on the count. The Angels could not climb up after the Texans started hitting well in to the game.
"They are deep and it is tough to pitch against them and virtually impossible when you are behind in counts," Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia said.
With the series now lost, the Angels will be hoping to get a win on the last day of the season, in order to avoid a clean sweep. Los Angeles fought hard, but was unable to match the Rangers as their pitching let them down. The pitchers allowed too many runs
making it next to impossible to stage a come-back by the Angels. It will be interesting to see what changes the Angels will do to improve their efforts and get a much needed win to close the regular season on a high note.
