Los Angeles Angels Manager Mike Scioscia shows confidence in infielder Mark Trumbo – MLB News
The Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia is showing his great confidence in infielder Mark Trumbo on his current form. Trumbo, who has yet to receive a permanent position in the roster, is currently playing a key role of designated hitter for the Angels.
Trumbo is a very good infield player, but due to some other roster adjustments, the Angels are still keeping him in the loop for next two to three months.
However, the way Trumbo is playing in this ongoing Major League Baseball season, the Angels’ management is quite sure that he will be playing as full positioned player from next season onwards.
Some say that the Angels’ two other main players in the infield Abbot and Costello will feel little relax if Trumbo comes in to help them regarding defensive areas.
"I only played a game or two in right field [in spring training], but I grew up playing outfield," Trumbo said after Friday's game. "I'm not a tremendous outfielder, but I'm more experienced"
The above statement of Trumbo shows here the level of desperation he is also feeling to obtain a position which is also helpful for him to become a certain positioned player in the biggest baseball league in the world.
On the other hand, the Angels manager thinks differently for Trumbo. He is focusing on his strengths and not letting any other to judge as what position he must be playing at the moment and in the future seasons as well.
“He played well in spring training and he got to a little rough start this season, but his skill-set is definitely suited to say he can play third base in the major leagues," Scioscia said. "It's just getting comfortable and getting acclimated. We'll watch him and hopefully he'll settle in and start making the routine plays the way he can. On the practice field, he looks great."
The next few days are important as Scioscia and some other executives will be deciding over the perfect position for Mark Trumbo that will also allow him to play his natural game in the coming days with full confidence.
