Los Angeles Angels acquire pitcher Tommy Hanson – MLB Update
Los Angeles Angels have acquired starting pitcher Tommy Hanson from the Atlanta Braves and in exchange, they sent their reliever Jordan Walden to the Braves.
"I was more worried about staying healthy and felt a little tired down the stretch after the All-Star break, I didn't feel I was as strong as I needed to be. But everything feels really good right now," said Hanson, who was slowed by a rotator-cuff tear and a back injury in 2011.
Finally, the Angels’ front office has reacted to their general manager Jerry Dipoto’s bigger potential initiative of signing new pitchers for the next Major League Baseball season.
"It might not rate with past seasons, but our reports represent what we've always known about him, that he has two above-average breaking balls and misses bats, He's a year removed from anything involving his arm, and he had some back spasms a year ago. We feel it's a good risk on a pitcher we believe in," Dipoto said as he explained in the media regarding this trade.
Angels despite doing well on the plate last season, they could not find any reliable strategy to show more consistency on the mound. Their pitchers remained under pressure during the entire regular season and eventually could not even land their team into post-season.
Angels however, remained confident and promised their fans for a better prepared rotation next season. Now their promises are about to turn true as the Angels' management has started shopping from the free agent market.
Not only the Angels are active in free agent market, but they are also involved in trading some of the potential players. Hanson’s coming into the Angels' rotation is also a promised factor of their front office to boost current starting rotation.
Hanson is highly talented individual and knows all tricks of the trade. His so journey so far in Major League Baseball has brought him much praise.
He finished the last season with the Braves and achieved a 4.48 ERA along with 13-10 win-loss, 161 strike-outs and 1.45 WHIP.
Overall his career ERA of 3.61 along with 45-32 win-loss 592 strike-outs and 1.25 WHIP also makes him a good pitcher.
