Los Angeles Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers set to play a thrilling season – MLB Update
The Los Angeles Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers are set to play a thrilling Major League Baseball season in 2013. Both teams are confident regarding their respective units. Both franchises made serious changes in this offseason and now showing great optimism
to enter into a new season.
Not only player power, but both Los Angeles Angels and Dodgers have spent hefty money on signing new players. Their payrolls have also been increased to a record level.
Los Angeles Dodgers’ touched the $225 million payroll in which $147 million is only Zack Greinke will earn in next six years. The Angels on the other hand, signed former Texas Rangers hitter Josh Hamilton with a five-year $125 million deal.
“I think it's just great, Why would I ever want to wish bad on someone?” Los Angeles Angels’ owner Arte Moreno said of the Dodgers' spending spree, which included a stunning $61.7 million investment in South Korean left-handed pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu.
“That's what it gets to at the end, But I don't want to get too deep into it and say that's the only reason I came here, When I wrote all the lineups down the pitching staffs down on paper, it made me realize how good the Dodgers actually are," Zack Greinke
said.
Josh Hamilton has also said, "I was excited to see that they were excited, To see a team, see people who really pursue you, really want you to be part of the organization — that's what a player wants to see.”
Before coming into the Los Angeles Angels, Josh Hamilton played for the Texas Rangers and played certainly well. He remained consistent in his plays and achieved good career numbers of .304 hitting average along with 161 home runs, 553 RBIs and .363 OBP.
On the other hand, he also played well in the recent past season with the Rangers and went hitting at .285 along with 43 home runs, 128 RBIs and .354 OBP.
The Dodgers’ newly signed Greinke played the last season with the Los Angeles Angels and achieved 3.48 ERA along with 15-5, 200 strikeouts and 1.20 WHIP.
