Los Angeles Angels crush Detroit Tigers 13-0 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels crushed the Detroit Tigers 13-0 in the second game of their four-game regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 17 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Angels’ played beautifully and earned a great victory against the Tigers.
Angels’ bounced back after losing the first game of the series 8-6 and showed the Tigers their complete authority.
Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo sparked as they scored quick runs on consistent bases leading the Angels to a decent win in the end.
“You hit five home runs, it's obviously a great night, A good breakout night for us." Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia said.
Later Trumbo said, “You don't want to be the guy that breaks the chain, I guess, When everybody in front of you is getting it done, you go up there with the mindset that you can, too."
Angels’ centre-fielder Trout looked confident from start of the game as he scored three runs on four hits while he also contributed with two RBIs.
Trumbo, who is playing consistently in this particular season, also added one run, two hits and three RBIs in the Angels’ win.
Along with Trumbo and Trout, the Los Angeles Angels' slugger Albert Pujols also performed tremendously and earned a great victory for his team.
He scored thee rums on his four at-bats. He also made two RBIs as his slugging percentage remained consistent at .481.
Pujols said, “I was on that side when I was young, putting up those kind of numbers early in my career, some of the veteran guys around were enjoying it. It's fun. Those guys come to play, they don't take anything for granted, they don't let the numbers get to their head.”
Not only batters but the Angels’ pitchers also proved effective for their team. Both starter and closer did very well and earned great victory for the Angels.
Garrett Richards pitched seven innings and did give up any run. He retired two batters as his ERA remained consistent at 3.53.
Closer David Carpenter also played quite accurately and finished his two innings spell with great precision as his ERA also stayed persistent at 3.71.
