Los Angeles Angels crush Oakland Athletics 7-1 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels crushed the Oakland Athletics 7-1 in the last and third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, September 5 at O.co Coliseum in Oakland.
The entire Angels' batting line-up performed with big energy and won in style.
Right fielder Torii Hunter scored one run and smashed two hits along with three RBIs. He played aggressive and proved one of the winning factors for the Angels as he also maintained his slugging percentage at .441.
"It's awesome, (Oakland) was one of the hottest teams in baseball. To come in here and take three from the hottest team, it shows a lot about this ballclub," Hunter said in detail about his performance and at the same time expressed optimism about Angels’ entire side.
Designated hitter Albert Pujols contributed with his one run and one hit on his .535 slugging percentage.
Third baseman Alberto Callaspo scored two runs and smashed a single hit while he also maintained his slugging percentage at .355.
Along with batters, the Angels' pitchers also did well on the mound and earned a great victory.
Dan Haren pitched six innings and allowed one run and three hits. He struck-out seven on his 4.46 ERA.
"We needed it bad, We knew we needed to get all three. Our will to win these last three games has been different from the rest of the year," said Dan Haren,
Garrett Richards also did well on the mound and allowed only one hit. He remained calm on the mound and maintained his ERA at 4.65.
"This team is playing where we hoped it would, And pitching is the reason," Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said.
On the other hand, the Athletics' starter Brandon McCarthy did not play well and lost the game with bitter humiliation.

He pitched 3.2 innings and allowed three runs with five hits. He struck-out only three while his ERA rose to 3.24.
