Los Angeles Angels crush Seattle Mariners 3-0 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels crushed the Seattle Mariners 3-0 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, May 24 at Safeco Field, Seattle in 2012 Major League Baseball season and took the early lead in the series 1-0.
Albert Pujols and starter Dan Haren played well for the Angels as their team now sitting quite comfortable at third position in the American League West Division with 21-25 overall win loss record including .457 winning percentage.
Both players played their respective roles for their team. Pujols with bat and Haren with ball literally thrashed the Mariners who were coming with a deserted series win against the last year’s World Series finalists Texas Rangers.
Pujols’ hit three times and earned two RBIs along with a home run while Haren pitched nine scoreless innings for the Angels.
"He makes good hitters look pretty bad including myself, he has in the past, He is pretty amazing when he keeps the ball down. I think the main thing is to be positive all the time and continue to make sure to make good adjustments.” Pujols said on his own
and team’s performance.
"Even pitching at 80 percent I should get better results than I have been getting in prior starts. I think it was obvious tonight that my stuff was better and I was feeling better in general," Haren said. "I'm happy obviously to win a game. I forgot what
it felt like."
The Mariners on the other hand, never looked comfortable at their home field and gave too many chances to Angels to rattle them with every manner.
From their batters to pitchers, no one was able to stop the Angels’ offence. Veteran pitcher Jason Vargas finished giving seven hits and three important runs and went back to the bullpen after seven innings of play.
Experts believe that this loss will cost the Mariners in big way. The Mariners were coming with a huge win against the Rangers, but now the they have to push their thrust button again in order to keep their chances alive for post season qualification.
