Los Angeles Angels defeat Cleveland Indians 2-0 – MLB Update

The Los Angeles Angels put in a tremendous effort to defeat the Cleveland Indians 2-0 to break their winning streak at Angel Stadium, Anaheim on Tuesday, April 12.
If there was one player that outperformed everyone, it was Dan Haren of Los Angeles. He dominated Tuesday’s game with unplayable pitches, allowing only one hit in seven shut-out innings to beat the Indians. The win also meant a stop to an impressive eight-game
winning streak of Cleveland.
Such was his performance that even the Indians’ team manager could not help acknowledging it. "Haren was on his game. He was in complete command of the ballgame from inning one," Indians manager Manny Acta said. "It was just an outstanding pitching performance.
He only allowed two runs."
The Angels must be grateful to Haren for the team was amazingly unable to go for many hits either. They had a total of four hits, of which Peter Bourjos and Mark Trumbo who homered for the Angels, taking on Fausto Carmona.
The game began with Haren pitching for Los Angeles. He was faced by Michael Brantley whom he did not allow a hit. Asdrubal Cabrera was unable to play Haren who was followed by Shin-Soo Choo. The scoreless first inning of the Indians was followed by Maicer
Izturis facing Carmona, who was pitching for Cleveland.
However, from Howard Kendrick to Bobby Abreu and from Torii Hunter to Alberto Callaspo, save Maicer Izturis who had a hit, none of the players could go against Carmona. The first inning came to an end with no score by either of the two teams.
Haren came pitching in the second inning for the Angels and remained unplayable once again. Los Angeles could not score either when Carmona came to pitch for Cleveland. It was in the third inning that Los Angeles opened their account when Bourjos took on
Carmona and homered to left. The run gave the Angels a 1-0 lead which seemed an insurmountable challenge to the Indians as they were unable to hit Haren.
Dan, whose performance was par excellence, coupled with the fact that he has thrown 125 pitches in 225 career starts, was jubilant. He expressed his delight. "I was going at them pretty much the whole night," Haren said. "I was pitching with a controlled
aggressiveness. It was such a close game, I didn't want to leave anything out over the plate — but I didn't want to get burned with walks, either."
Los Angeles doubled their lead in the seventh inning when Mark Trumbo homered to left, scoring the second run. Trumbo, with this hit actually scored his first big league home-run. Los Angeles had scored an uneasy lead over the Indians with the second run
scored by Trumbo. The 2-0 lead proved promising enough for the Angels that they tried to keep it intact until the 9th inning when Haren sealed the victory with his unplayable pitches.
