Los Angeles Angels defeat Los Angeles Dodgers 8-3 – MLB Spring Training
Los Angeles Angels defeated Los Angeles Dodgers 8-3 at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday, April 4 in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
Albert Pujols hit a towering home run that was estimated at 441 feet in his final spring outing. Pujols’ solo home run helped the Angels secure a comfortable 8-3 win over their neighbours. Pujols hit .383 average with seven home runs and 20 RBI’s this spring.
The striker is one of the most expensive players in Major League Baseball and he will have great amount of responsibility on his shoulder this season.
Mark Trumbo also made a useful effort with the bat as he hit a solo home run. C.J. Wilson displayed some high quality throwing skills, pitching four scoreless innings to impress his skipper. Ryan Langerhans and Jorge Cantu also homered for the Angels in
a fairly one sided contest.
"To be able to play with Albert and see what he did in the first inning -- hit that ball like a thousand miles an hour off the bat, that's really impressive," Wilson said. "And to be one of the pitchers with Jered Weaver, Dan Haren and Ervin Santana, and
just being able to draft off of those guys, it'll be a lot of fun this year."
"Overall, I think I pitched pretty well and made a lot of improvements over last year," Wilson said. "It was a big learning experience for me."
The Angels have emerged as one of the strongest teams in MLB this season. Their 19-12 spring record suggests that they have executed their game plan to perfection. However, it may be a bit tough for the Angels to achieve similar sort of results in the upcoming
regular season. If the Angels can get the best out of their pitching lineup, they will have an excellent chance to reach the post season.
The Dodgers have also given considerable performances this spring. However, they have lacked consistency in their game. Dodgers’ skipper will be expecting his side to lift their spirits before the Opening Day.
