Los Angeles Angels deny any talk of Bobby Abreu’s trade – MLB News
News is coming that the Los Angeles Angels trade talks with Cleveland Indians regarding Bobby Abreu has fallen apart on salary issues.
Earlier this news was broke in the media shocking many of Abreu’s fans in the Angels’ franchise and also across the US.
Abreu said on the recent development with clear views, “I don't know what's going on, I don't think too much [of the rumors]. I'm here. One of the things I'm doing now that's more important is getting myself ready for the season so that when I do get opportunities
to play I can do my best,"
Cleveland Indians wanted a deal with the Angels that would have sent Abreu into the Tribe, but since this deal has over on some huge salary issues, the Indians are disappointed now. The initiative was also took by the Indians’ top management, who were in
deep trouble after putting up an average performance in this year’s Spring Training and wanted to bring in an experienced performer in the team.
However, now things have changed and all those initiatives remain ineffective. Abreu will remain in the Angels and hoping to start another season with the South Los Angeles baseball franchise.
Angels’ general manager Jerry Dipoto later said with slight explanation, “We're going with the 25 guys who fit the best together, I talk to a variety of other clubs every day about players, and we'll continue to do that in future. We wanted to see how Izzy
would bounce back on back-to-back days, and he came through very well.”
Experts believe this deal was an initiative from both ends. The Angels wanted some money and the Indians were in pursuit of a good outfielder. Los Angeles want cash as they recently did some heavy spending on Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson while the Indians
saved their trade options and looking at a potential trade during the mid-season break.
Contrary to this trade that has dismissed now by both sides, the 16-year veteran sits in a comfortable place and is looking forward with his future relations with the Angels. The team will be looking to Abreu to put in a good performance during the 2012
Major League Baseball regular season.
