Los Angeles Angels dominate Baltimore Orioles 9-3 – MLB Update
The 19-year-old Los Angeles Angels’ hitter Mike Trout hit a three-run homer on Sunday to help his team beat the Baltimore Orioles 9-3 at Oriole Park.
Having already hit numerous home-runs being too young for a baseball player, Trout was amazing once again on Sunday with his eighth inning hit to receive wild applause not only from the team but also from the crowd.
"It was just awesome out there," said Trout, the youngest player in the Majors. "It's definitely special. I think it's my parents' first home run they've seen in pro ball that I hit in a game."
Even the team manager was awed. "Mike has been doing something every game," manager Mike Scioscia said. "You have to keep pinching yourself and telling yourself he's 19."
Bobby Abreu gave the Angels their first run in the third inning of the Baltimore Orioles’ starter Jeremy Guthrie. Tyler Chatwood went ahead with his shut-out innings as Mark Trumbo scored the second run for the Angels in the fourth.
Maicer Izturis followed with another run for the team, tripling the lead for the Angels and being constantly supported by a strong defence as well. Tyler Chatwood kept pitching shut-out innings until the sixth when Adam Jones scored a two-run homer to bring
the lead down 3-2.
As Chatwood finished his seventh inning, one of the best spells of his career allowing only two runs, the Los Angeles Angels’ offence played their part in the eighth inning with a big hit coming off Mike Trout’s bat.
His three-run homer took the lead up to 6-2 which was followed by Torri Hunter’s two-run RBI, giving the team a stable 8-2 lead and reviving the Angels hopes to win the series 2-1.
The winning dream was almost realised when Mark Trumbo hit a run in the ninth to bring Los Angeles to 9-2, casting off any hope for the Baltimore Orioles to even stage a decent comeback.
Bobby Cassevah went for a strong inning that he had to pitch. It was Nick Markakis who would score a run, but the other hitters were successfully contained by the Angels’ closer to pave the way to a 9-3 victory for the Los Angeles Angels in the series-winning
game.
The Angels put in a tremendous offensive performance as they managed to score runs with ease against the Orioles. Los Angeles completely dominated the game throughout as they also successfully contained the Orioles’ offence. Both teams battled it out, but
it was the Angels that played superbly and took the impressive win. It will be interesting to see how long the Angels can carry their winning momentum into their next match-up.
