Los Angeles Angels dominate New York Yankees 10-8 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels defeated the New York Yankees 10-8 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 15 at Yankee Stadium in New York City.
Angels’ played tremendously and proved their conviction better on the night. They came confident and left Yankee Stadium with a good win.
“We kind of loaded the gun for them, and they almost pulled the trigger." Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia said of his team’s tremendous effort.
Though the Angels’ had already lost the game earlier with back-to-back defeats from the Yankees but winning the last game of the series certainly boosted their confidence. They now play against the Detroit Tigers in the upcoming four-game series which starts on Monday, July 16.
In Sunday’s game, the Angels played as one unit and never allowed the Yankees to dominate instead they kept them under pressure throughout the game.
Angels’ entire roster played a balanced game and looked aggressive. Not only their pitchers but their batting lineup also played wonderfully and narrowly won the game with a two run advantage.
Right-fielder Mark Trumbo scored two runs on his three hits along with one RBI and proved one of the winning factors for the Angels.
Trumbo said, "It's huge, We had another game almost get away from us, but I think we battled pretty good this series. This is a tough place to come in here and play, and we're going to take this game, this victory, and move toward the next series."
Starting pitcher Jered Weaver despite showing slight out of colour performance still managed to win the game for the Angels in the end.
He pitched seven innings and received five runs on ten hits along with five earned runs as his ERA remained consistent at 2.26.
Weaver said, "In this stadium you have to pitch to the score, keep your team in the game as much as possible, you never get a break with that lineup."
Yankees on the other hand, could not play well especially starter Ivan Nova proved disastrous for them. He pitched way-ward and lost the game for the Yankees.
"I feel like I can do better than this," Nova said.
He was hammered with six important runs in his six innings spell as he was also smashed with three homers on his 4.18 ERA.
