Los Angeles Angels edge Seattle Mariners 6-5 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-5 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, August 10 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in California.
Angels played tremendously from start of the game and eventually won in the end. They never gave any chance to their opponents to take control of the game. Instead they kept them under pressure and hammered them with full force.
Angels’ pitchers played well and earned a deserving win for their team. They remained accurate and pitched in right areas which proved wonderful for them as they ease past the Mariners with style.
Mariners on the other hand, looked tired in the field as their pitchers and hitters failed miserably against the Angels’ top offence.
“On that play right there, you know that all three runners are going to tag up, and the guy at third base is definitely going to score, The guy at second base is definitely going to get to third base, so what you have to do is control the baseball and make
sure the guy at second doesn't come all the way around,” Seattle manager Eric Wedge said in detail about his team’s performance.
Starter Felix Hernandez pitched poorly as he allowed five runs, five hits and four earned runs along with a homer on his 2.74 ERA.
"That was not my best game tonight, I fell behind and made a couple mistakes and that was the game right there. They gave me an early lead and I couldn't hold it. It's all on me," Hernandez said later in the game and told the reporters about his outing.

Relief pitcher Josh Kinney pitched 1.1 innings for the Mariners and allowed one run and one earned run on one hit. He struck-out two and his ERA rose to 5.40.
Angels’ starter Ervin Santana however, played much better and proved his valour. He pitched 6.1 innings and retired six Mariners’ batters.
Santana’s team-mate and closing pitcher Kevin Jepsen also played well as he pitched one inning and received only one hit and struck-out one batter as well on 3.68 ERA.
