Los Angeles Angels edge past Houston Astros 6-5 – MLB Recap
Los Angeles Angles edge past Houston Astros 6-5 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, May 9 at Minute Maid Park in Texas.
Angels played as one unit and rattled the Astros with big force. Their entire team showed commitment in the field and won with great style. It was Angels’ upfront pitchers, who made possible for them to defeat Astros who were coming with some good wins in
their previous series.
“It was huge, It was a draining game. It was over four hours. We battled our hearts out and (we) like the way it went, especially going into a new series. This is what we're going to have to do. They're not going to be easy," Trumbo said.
In Thursday’s game, the entire Angels played wonderfully and never allowed any chance to opponents during the entire game. On the other hand, the Astros played really poor and received heavy hammering from the Angels batting line.
“There aren't many games you're going to win when you leave 16 guys on base, It's a great character game for our guys. I feel good for them. The clubhouse feels good. We held on. We kept pressuring them and got some key hits as the game went on," manager
Mike Scioscia said.
Their pitchers did not pitch in right areas and lost bitterly in the end. Lucas Harrell started the game for the Astros and pitched five innings. He received two runs and four hits. He was also hammered with one homer on his 4.67 ERA. Harrell started the
game with good energy but as the game progressed; his pitching could not do anything for his team.
Relief pitcher Paul Clemens pitched 1.2 innings and allowed one run on two hits. He allowed one earned run as well and struck out three Angels’ batters but his pitching too could not provide any offensive force to the Astros. His ERA rose to 4.84 as Wesley
Wright replaced him.
Later Hector Ambriz came to pitch as he allowed three runs on three hits. He allowed three earned runs as his ERA rose to 6.23.
