Los Angeles Angels floor Seattle Mariners 6-1 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-1 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 5 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in 2012 Major League Baseball season. The next will also be decisive as experts are already
treating the Angels as favourites to win the series.
Two-year veteran third baseman Mark Trumbo played brilliantly and proved a winning factor for the Angels.
His two homers and four RBIs helped the Angels surpass the Mariners’ pitching offence in great style. He remained calm and played with a big heart. His four at bats provided the crucial runs in the second, third and fifth innings as the Angels paved a solid
ground to humiliate the Mariners with full force. The Mariners waivered and could not show the Angels their hidden batting prowess which is considered one of the most resourceful and deep batting offences in the League.
As the game ended in favour of Angels’, media personals rushed towards Trumbo to take his say on his team’s tremendous win and in which he played a huge part as well.
Trumbo replied in detail later in the game with full confidence and also added as how he was able to play with such precision and control, "I don't check the numbers too much, I really don't care about my batting average, as long as it's within a respectable
range. The numbers that matter to me are the power numbers, driving the ball and getting on base. I mean, I'm pleased with where I'm at, but I'm more pleased that we've been playing well as a team."
Trumbo added with more confidence saying this was certainly a team effort, "I was able to get a couple of pitches up and I didn't chase. That's the biggest thing, It's a strange game. Yesterday -- statistically -- was the worst game I ever played.”
Along with Trumbo, the Angels’ pitching offence also played well and proved helpful for their team’s welcome win.
Starter Garrett Richards played well for the Angels as he pitched seven innings and allowed only one run and struck-out eight. No other player matched his stats.  Though he was also smashed for a homer in third by centre fielder Michael Saunders, but remaining
four innings were a smooth sale for him in-which he remained his calm and helped his team to take the game away for yet another in comprehensive manner.
On the other hand, the Mariners starter Blake Beavan could not show his prowess as he was hit with six runs and 10 hits. He finished his five innings spell with bitter humiliation and gave no chance to the Mariners to bounce back in the game.
