Los Angeles Angels hammer Oakland Athletics 8-3 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels hammered the Oakland Athletics 8-3 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, September 3 at O.co Coliseum in Oakland.
"The biggest thing is when I do get a chance to play just try to do what I can to help this team win, whether it's in the box or on the field, It was difficult at first. The more you go through it, you live for today. That's the best way to go through life -- enjoy the moment," Wells said.
Angels’ upfront batting line-up played beautifully and earned a great victory for their team.
Centre fielder Mike Trout did well on his four at-bats as he scored one run and one hit on his .570 slugging percentage.
Right fielder Torii Hunter scored one run on his two hits. He also added two RBIs and maintained his slugging percentage at .446.
Second baseman Howard Kendrick also performed well for the Angels as he scored one run and smashed two hits on his consistent slugging percentage at .404.
It was certainly a team effort in which the entire Angels’ roster played nicely and won the game for their team.
Pitchers at the same time also played well and won the game for the Angels. Especially starter C.J. Wilson played tremendously and proved one of the winning factors for the Angels.
He pitched five solid innings and received two runs and five hits. He also allowed only two earned runs and struck-out three along with one homer on his 3.85 ERA.
“Our bats just overwhelmed them today, That's the kind of offense we need to put up there to be relentless and put pressure on the other team," Wilson said.
Garrett Richards pitched one inning and received only one hit. He did not allow any run and retired three Athletics’ batters.
On the other hand, the Athletics' pitchers disappointed them. They pitched way-ward and lost in the end.
Starter Tommy Milone pitched three innings and received five runs and ten hits on his 3.94 ERA. He could have played much better but the Angels’ hitters did not give him time to settle down on the mound.
