Los Angeles Angels hammered by Cincinnati Reds 5-4 – MLB Update
The Los Angeles Angels lost by Cincinnati Reds 5-4 on Thursday April 05 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati and also lost the three-match series 2-1.
“It means somebody else picked us up, We had excellent pitching. Some of their players didn't get uncaged, either. That was an exciting series. Every game was a great game that could have gone either way," manager Dusty Baker said.
Reds’ overall performed far better than the Angels and eventually won the game in style. Their entire roster played well and as one unit as well. "I've proven I can play off the bench, I'm not feeling any pressure," Heisey said.
The Reds’ upfront offence gave chance to the Angels and gave them hard thumping in the last game of the series.
"Two of them were off mistakes, and I felt I made maybe a handful of them all day, That happens sometimes in baseball. One of those things that just happened out of the gate," Angels’ starter Blanton said.
The pitchers and hitters, all played their key role in their team’s extraordinary win. The Reds veteran starter Bronson Arroyo started the game and showed his best game with his six innings fast spell.
He stood tall against the entire hitting line-up and only received three runs and at the same time he was able to strike out five of their key batters on his consistent 4.50 ERA. "Every time he goes deep for me, it's like a holiday," Arroyo said.
On the other hand, the Angels tried Joe Blanton for opening the game. However, he failed miserably to show his offensive game and was hammered with huge hits including five runs, seven hits, four earned runs and three homers on blistering high 7.20 ERA.
Blanton was certainly proved a bitter disappointment for the Angels as they never recovered in the game and consistently remained under pressure.
On the other hand, the Reds batters also took advantage from Angels’ poor pitching as they played freely in all parts of ground and eventually won the game as well as the series.
