Los Angeles Angels hammered by Oakland Athletics 4-10 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels were hammered by the Oakland Athletics 4-10 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, August 7 at O.co Coliseum in Oakland.
Angels played under pressure from start of the game and lost in the end. They did not play their natural game and eventually received the consequences when the A’s rattled them with a big margin.
"For whatever reason tonight, we seemed kind of rejuvenated and looked like a team that hasn't been having struggles, I thought we looked a little tired the past few days, based on the fact we played so many long and close games,” A's manager Bob Melvin said.
Angels’ offence failed against the tremendous hitting of some of the senior Athletics’ players.
Whereas the Angels’ hitters were just handcuffed by the A’s’ exceptional pitchers who did not allow their opponents to play freely.
Angels’ top slugger Albert Pujols remained hitless on his three at-bats. He looked tired on the plate and was never able to impress with his batting.
Left fielder Mark Trumbo also failed on his four at-bats as his slugging percentage remained at .568.
Mike Trout however, started well for the Angels as he scored a run on a single hit. He also added a RBI, but it was not enough for his team to match the A’s brilliance.
Torii Hunter also did well with the bat as he smashed a hit and maintained his slugging percentage of .442 on three at-bats.
Along with batters, the Angels’ pitchers also could not show any resistance during the entire game and lost in the end.
“The one thing I think on C.J. was just his ball-strike ratio, and getting in so many deep counts, When all was said and done, maybe if we tighten things up on the defensive side, maybe his linescore's a little better, but the five walks obviously put a lot of guys on base for the A's tonight," Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia said.
Angels’ starter C.J. Wilson pitched five innings and allowed six runs and nine hits along with three earned runs as well. He was also smashed for homer as his ERA rose to 3.34.
