Los Angeles Angels humiliated by Detroit Tigers 1-5 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels humiliated by the Detroit Tigers 1-5 in the final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, July 19 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Angels also lost the series 3-1 as the entire team did not look comfortable and lost with bitter humiliation.
Though the Angels’ came into this series with huge confidence as they wanted a good series’ result after being defeated by the New York Yankees. However, the Angels still could not match the Tigers brilliant play and lost in the end.
Jerome Williams pitched poorly and did not show his natural game. He was hammered with five runs on nine hits. He also gave five earned runs along with two homers as his ERA rose to 4.85.
Williams said, "I want to pitch how I'm capable of pitching, and it just hasn't clicked. It hasn't been like how I was at the beginning of the year. I'm doing my best in between starts to correct the things, and it's frustrating."
Outfielder Mark Trumbo also said, "It's not good, but we're also one game removed from putting a crooked number up, The way Scherzer was throwing, I don't think anyone would have done too much today, so it's a little easier to forget about that one. Chalk it up to him getting it done and us having to wear it."
On the other hand, the Tigers played as one unit and never gave any chance to the Angels to take control of the game.
Tigers’ starter Max Scherzer played wonderfully and earned a great victory for his team. He pitched seven innings and gave only one run on three hits. He also gave only one earned run as his ERA remained consistent at 4.61.
Overall the game was played at a high pace but the Tigers proved their valour in the end and won it with style.
Tigers’ took the lead early in the game and kept it until the final inning. They allowed the Angels to score only one run and eventually won the game as well as the series.
