Los Angeles Angels lose to Detroit Tigers 6-8 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels lost to Detroit Tigers 6-8 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Monday, July 16 at Commercial Park in Detroit.
This was Tigers second straight win as they also recently ousted the Baltimore Orioles in their first three-match series of the second half of the regular season just a day ago.
Tigers’ played wonderfully and defeated the Angels with style. They put the Angels’ in extreme pressure and later kept their thrust until final inning’s play as they easily won in the end.
Left-fielder Quintin Berry played extremely well for the Tigers. He scored two runs on three hits along with an RBI. He was also phenomenal on the field and showed his athleticism with huge spirit.
Berry said, "No, man. That dude's ridiculous, If you all are expecting that, you all can relax. That dude's fun to watch."
Right fielder Brandon Boesch also played well and hit a two run homer in the seventh which certainly strengthened the Tigers’ position.
Boesch said, "Different people can contribute, one through nine, I think that's what you need to have success, especially in the American League. I think we're definitely one of the teams that runs out a lineup that has a lot of depth, and recently it's showed."
The only batter from the Angels’ roster who showed some determination was Mark Trumbo as he scored a run on one hit along with an RBI.
Later in the game the Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia also appreciated Trumbo’s play and told the media in detail as he said, "He gives them a different dimension to their offense, He's got the speed to make plays, and he's obviously in a great spot in the order with Cabrera and Prince coming up behind him.”
Though the game was won by the Tigers, but on the whole, both team's pitchers could not perform well and hammered with enormous power.
Angels’ starter Ervin Santana received four runs and eight hits along with two earned runs as his ERA rose to 5.60.
Tigers’ starter Rick Porcello also gave too many inaccurate deliveries and received five runs on five eight hits.
