Los Angeles Angels lose to New York Yankees 5-11 – MLB Update
Los Angeles Angels lost to New York Yankees 5-11 at the Yankee Stadium in New York, NY on Sunday, April 15 in their regular season game of the 2012 Major League Baseball. The Yankees displayed some high quality baseball skills in the finale of a three games series between the two games.
The Angels, who looked in commanding form in game two, were unable to hold on to some of the opportunity and they paid the ultimate price for it.
For the Yankees, Ivan Nova pitched with great control and accuracy as he struck out eight batters in six solid innings to earn his second win of the season. Angels’ hitter Albert Pujols once again failed to make an impression as he continued to search for his first home run of the season. Howard Kendrick played a key role with his bat with his second straight three hit game.
"No one's ever happy when you start off slowly. No one's saying no big deal," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "But you also have to understand the need for some guys to get into their game. Some guys are going hit stride right out of spring training, hit the ground running. Some guys are going to need some innings or some at-bats."
"The guy has great stuff," Kendrick said. "He's got an electric fastball, he throws his breaking balls for strikes and he knows how to pitch."
New York has now won two out their three games at home this season. After making an ordinary start to the season, it seems the Yankees are finally tying their loose ends.
With their win over the Angels on Sunday, the Yankees improved their overall win-loss record to 5-4. Losing all three games of a three match series with Tampa Bay Rays, the Yankees looked a bit out of sorts early on this season.
Considering they are one of the resourceful and high priced teams in MLB right now, their fans will be expecting them to give more consistent results.
The Yankees produced reasonable performances last season to make it to the playoffs. However, with even more resources and assets, they are expected to make it to the World Series finals.
