Los Angeles Angels lose to Seattle Mariners 1-2 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels lost to Seattle Mariners 1-2 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, September 2 at Safeco Field in Seattle.
Mariners were very competitive as they out-played the Angels for a decent win. They did not show any loop-holes in their game and won in style.
"Going into the wall, breaking something or just ruining somebody's lunch," Trayvon Robinson said.
Mariners’ upfront pitchers played really well and won with ease. They held the Angels with great focus and rattled their opponents.
Hisashi Iwakuma pitched 7.1 innings and received only five hits. He did not give any run and maintained his ERA at 3.14.
Mariners’ pitcher struck-out seven and proved one of the winning factors for his team.
Relief pitcher Josh Kinney also did well on the mound as he pitched 0.2 innings and did not give any run or hit on his consistent 3.98 ERA.
"I was just going to make him hit the ball the other way instead of try and get perfect and punch him out," Kinney said of Trout. "I wasn't going to let him pull the ball on me. You got respect the kid. The kid's tough."
Closer Tom Wilhelmsen also played well as he pitched one inning spell and remained calm on the mound. He received one run and one hit and maintained his ERA at 2.66.
Along with pitchers, the Mariners' batters also did well on the plate. Catcher Jesus Montero scored one run and smashed two hits along with one RBI as he also remained consistent with his slugging percentage. "I get lucky," Montero said.
"I felt like he took control of the ballgame right away from the first pitch on," Seattle manager Eric Wedge said.
On the other hand, Angels’ starter Jered Weaver pitched 5.1 innings and received two runs and eight hits. He struck-out three while his ERA remained consistent at 2.86.
"Didn't really get me as square (as) much as it looked like it did," Weaver said.
Jerome Williams pitched 2.1 innings and received one hit on his 4.59 ERA.
