Los Angeles Angels lose to Seattle Mariners 4-9 – MLB Recap
Los Angeles Angels lost to Seattle Mariners 4-9 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, September 27 at Angel Stadium in California.
Angels’ upfront batting line-up and pitchers disappointed with their poor performances and lost the game with bitter humiliation.
"We had a chance to gain a game, but instead we're still the same, We have no idea if we're going to play another home game here, but we're not going to give up, ever. There's no way we're going to do that," said Torii Hunter later in the game as he told the media about his team’s overall performance and especially highlighted Angels’ challenging areas.
Starter Dan Haren pitched over five innings spell and received three runs and six hits along with one homer on his 4.32 ERA.
"To not control our own destiny, that's not what we sought after, We know what we're up against. We know we've got to go out and win tomorrow, and get some help. We've got to shrug it off and go play hard," Haren said.
Though he struck-out three but his overall performance was ordinary as Mariners' hitters took full advantage and hammered him with big hits.
Relief pitcher Nick Maronde tossed 0.2 innings and allowed one run and one hit on his 1.80 ERA. It was somewhat of a good performance by the young pitcher but overall he also remained under pressure and could not do much on his short spell.
Closer Garrett Richards was also hit with enormous power by the Mariners' talented batters. He allowed three runs and three hits on his 4.73 ERA.
Along with pitchers, the Angels' hitters also played poorly and could not save the game.
Only few Angels’ hitters were able to score during the entire game, while the rest of the players did not show any fighting spirit.
Angels’ designated hitter Albert Pujols scored one run on two hits. He could have played much better, but it was Mariners’ protected defence who never let him play freely.
Second baseman Howard Kendrick also tried little with his two RBIs but overall his performance alone could not do much for the Angels’ to oust the Mariners.
