Los Angeles Angels lose to Tampa Bay Rays 0-2 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels lost to Tampa Bay Rays 0-2 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 29 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in California.
The Angels played under pressure throughout the game and lost in the end. Their entire roster did not play and received a heavy blow from the Rays.
It was second straight victory of the Rays against the Angels’ in this particular series as with this win; Tampa Bay side also won the three-game matchup 2-1.
Angels’ senior players looked tired in the field and did not show any fighting spirit. Especially their batting offence disappointed in huge manner as they could not even score a single run during the entire game which proved disastrous in the end as they
lost with bitter humiliation.
Though the Angels’ starting rotation somewhat played well but it was their hitters who literally lost the game for Los Angeles side.
Starter Zack Greinke tossed seven innings and allowed two run and two earned runs. He pitched well his seven innings’ spell and retired eight batters on his 2.57.
“It was a pretty lucky streak to get there, A lot had to happen out of my control. Today, I was able to make pitches felt good, but there was definitely a little nerves going into it, It's been fun so far. The clubhouse is nice; I've always liked this stadium.
It's pretty early, but I feel pretty good so far. Hopefully we win a bunch of games it becomes a fun season," Greinke said with confidence.
Jeremy Hellickson on the other hand, also performed well for the Rays and finished his six innings without receiving any score. He allowed two hits and struck out five potential Angels’ hitters on 3.23 ERA.
"First inning, I actually threw up on the mound, five or six times on the day. Then I threw up in the dugout a couple of times,” said Hellickson.
In the meanwhile, the Rays’ batting lineup performed well and stood tall against the Angels dire offence which eventually helped them win a series decisive game.
