Los Angeles Angels lose to Tampa Bay Rays 0-3 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on July, 28 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in California.
Rays played aggressive from the start of the game and never gave any chance to the Angels to take control at any point of play.
Their pitchers played well and never allowed the Rays to score even a single run.
Starter Matt Moore pitched 6.1 innings and allowed four hits with no run as his ERA remained consistent at 4.01.
He retired six potential batters of Angels and remained calm on the mound. He looked sharp in the field as well while his other team-mate pitchers also supported him well and did not allow any run toward the end of play.
"That's where the game either changes against you or stays the way it had been going, I really needed a ground ball, He doesn't run particularly well," Moore said later in the game and explained about his and the team’s performance with detail.
Moore added with more confidence and stated in the media about some different aspects of his team’s combined play, “That was a huge play to end the inning, I was probably a little too pumped up for that particular moment. I think I yanked a fastball. It took a good bounce to him and he gave me a perfect throw. We practice those plays during Spring Training. ... It was a good feeling to bring my glove around and see Wilson just barely sliding there on his chest."
Relief pitcher Jake McGee pitched 0.2 innings and retired two batters on his 2.70 ERA.
While closer Joel Peralta also pitched well for the Rays and did not allow any run on his 4.05 ERA.
On the other hand, the Angels’ starter C.J. Wilson did not play well for his team and lost the game with bitter humiliation.
He pitched 6.2 innings and was hammered with three runs and four hits. He also gave two earned runs while he was smashed with a home-run as well. He looked tired on the mound as is ERA rose to 2.88 in just 6.2 innings.
