Los Angeles Angels lose to Tampa Bay Rays 0-5 – MLB Recap
No magic of Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson’s were seen during the game against Tampa Bay Rays when they thrashed the Los Angeles Angels 5-0 in their first game of three match regular series of 2012 Major League Baseball season at Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida on April 24.
Tampa Bay Rays' starting pitcher David Price rattled the Angels with his fast curving throws which landed a surprising victory for Toronto.
"I needed that long outing," Price said. "It gets old coming out in the fifth or sixth inning."
Price went with successful at 3-1 in career shutout receiving only five hits and gave the Rays a chance to see ahead their team going into the post-season with clear potentials.
"I don't know if we've seen a better game against us," Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia said.
Later, the Rays manager Joe Maddon said, “Great command of all his pitches, He pretty much brought out the kitchen sink, probably one of his best performances as far as using his entire repertoire."
The Angels’ priced slugger Albert Pujols seemed ineffective as he also stated in the media showing slight frustration over the later humiliation.
Pujols said, "I don't concentrate on individual numbers, I concentrate more as a team, I think we've got a better ballclub than what we've been showing. It seems like everybody in the lineup is struggling."
The Rays started that particular game with huge self confidence entering into the fresh three match series after winning the previous one with 2-1 against the Minnesota Twins.
From start of the game, the Rays roster looked confident as their left fielder Desmond Jennings hit a home-run to left field and gave his team an early lead 1-0 at the end of first innings.
Later in fourth innings, the Rays designated hitter Luke Scott hammered a home run giving his team a healthy lead of 2-0 which was further increased by centre fielder B.J. Upton and Carlos Pena’s hits to 5-0.
On the other hand, the Rays starting pitcher David price held the Angels’ hitters with enormous amount of energy and brilliant ball play while never allowed them to play him easy which eventually proved the Tampa Bay Rays’ roster better than Angels’ big budgeted side.
