Los Angeles Angels make progress with Erick Aybar on contract extension – MLB News
The Los Angeles Angels are looking calm at the moment regarding Erick Aybar’s contract extension who now possesses the six-year playing experience with the same franchise where he started his career in 2006.
Earlier news came out in the media that both sides are having slight argument on potential contract extension. The previous contract is about to end after this summer as Aybar and his agent has started talking with the Angels’ top management for potential extension.
Aybar and his agent want a fresh five year $50 million while the current main dispute is coming from the Angels organization which is not agreeing with the demands of talented shortstop.
Angels' general manager Jerry Dipoto, who possesses some huge confidence on Aybar, said for him with complete detail, “Erick wants to be an Angel, we want Erick to be an Angel, and I feel very confident we'll be able to work something out. We've made progress. I'm very encouraged by where we are and that we will ultimately get there. I don't think so.
He added telling the media about the whole story of Aybar and his issues with the team, “Erick is Erick. Every player is an entity unto themselves, and I think Erick understands that. Erick doesn't have to get three hits to help you win, He runs the bases well, he's an excellent defensive shortstop, and he brings you energy; he can be a spark."
Erik is a good player having career .274 hitting average along with 24 home runs, 210 RBIs and .318 OBP while he is also playing well in this ongoing Major League Baseball season with a hitting average of .189 along with four RBIs and .231 OBP.
His extension will provide the right kind of stability to the Angels who are playing this season with an enormous amount of self confidence to outdo every opponent with total thrust.
In the meanwhile, some experts also believe that if the Angels and Aybar do agree on their respective concerns, the benefit will split into both sides equally.
