Los Angeles Angels moving closer to trade Chris Iannetta while Colorado Rockies eye Martin Prado
The Los Angeles Angels are moving closer to securing a deal with Colorado in order to exchange catcher, Chris Iannetta for young pitcher, Tyler Chatwood, while the Rockies are also looking to grab infielder, Martin Prado, from the Atlanta Braves according
to latest reports on November 30, 2011.
The trading process has widely started throughout the Major League Baseball (MLB) offseason, which has many team scrambling to get their hands on the top prospects, either being free agents or if teams are looking to trade them.
According to a source, Colorado is looking for more than one player in exchange for Iannetta, of which one should be one big name in the MLB.
Currently, Chris Iannetta is in the second year of his three-year deal with Los Angeles, which is worth a total of $8.35 million. Being 28-years-old, Iannetta had some high regarded performances in the minor leagues while throughout his career, he boasts
a .235/.357/.430 record in 1,733 plate appearances.
Tyler Chatwood on the other hand is only 21-years-old and entered through the draft as the Angels second top prospect below Mike Trout. He currently has over 142 innings and has yet to have a breakthrough season in the major league.
In regard of Chatwood, analysts of the view are that the young player must define himself quickly if he wants to stay in the majors and not be demoted in the future due to the lack of command he has in his area of play.
Martin Prado has been a player which the Rockies have been looking for quite a while now and could be of immense value for them, fulfilling their needs in the second and third base. The only issue that is facing the trade from happening at the moment is
that whether the Atlanta Braves are in the mood to trade the 28-year-old or not and if so, they will certainly be looking for a centre fielder to take his place.
Only time will tell if the unearthed deals hold any value in the eyes of the teams as the dealing process continues. Developments on the issue are expected in the upcoming days.
