Los Angeles Angels optimistic for season’s second half – MLB News
News is coming that the Los Angeles Angels are showing great optimism on their second half of the regular season. Angels’ finished second in the American League West Division behind the league leaders Texas Rangers.
However, due to the hard work of their senior players, the Los Angeles side is planning more careful play into the second half of the season to gain a healthy position in order to advance into the playoffs.
Lately two key players from the Angels’ roster have stated in the media with much hopefulness that their team will be a key opponent for the interleague teams as well for the National League.
Torii Hunter and left-fielder Mark Trumbo, who have been playing quite consistently for the Angels’ for past several years, agree that their team at the moment carries a strong advantage in their respective Division.
However, at the same time both players are also showing little concern over the late development of Rangers and third place Oakland Athletics with their consistent pace towards their potential chance of getting into the post season.
"When we're playing the way we've been playing, it doesn't matter," Hunter said. "We can play with anybody."
"The overall feeling in here has changed," said outfielder Mark Trumbo, “The first month not included, I think we're one of the best teams in baseball."
Both players also possess qualities to land their team into the post season but at the same time they will certainly need a helping hand from their senior team-mates as well.
Trumbo and Torii’s talent have been a great blessing for the Angels. Their team manager Mike Scioscia also recognises this fact as he recently said in the media for Trumbo with optimism.
"Mike has the talent to put up the numbers he's putting up — this isn't a fluke," Scioscia said. "I'm sure there are going to be some rough patches, but … he's not playing over his head. He's playing to his potential at a very, very young age, and that's rare."
Meanwhile, the second half of the season will be opening in a couple of days where both Trumbo and Torii will try their best to achieve good numbers for the Angels.
