Los Angeles Angels outshine Kansas City Royals 11-6 MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels outshined the Kansas City Royals 11-6 in the third and last game of the their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, July 25 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in California.
Angels played aggressive from start of the game and won in the end. Not only their hitters but their pitchers also performed well and provided the team a decent victory over the Royals.
Jered Weaver pitched five solid innings and allowed two runs and two earned runs on 2.26 ERA. He retired eight Royals hitters and proved one of the winning factors for the Angels.
“Anytime your team gives you eight runs to work with, the last thing you want to do is go out there and throw only five innings, It was a rough one. But we came out on top, which was the most important thing," Weaver said on his outing.
Along with pitchers, the Angels’ upfront batting line-up also played well and provided their team with a tremendous win.
Centre-fielder Mike Trout scored three runs on two hits. He also added two RBIs and kept the Royals pitchers under pressure.
Right fielder Torii Hunter also added three important runs with four hits. He also added three RBIs as his slugging percentage remained also consistent at .433.
On the other hand, the Royals’ certainly could not match the Angels brilliance and fell short with a five run deficit.
Later in the game, the Royals’ manager Ned Yost said of his team’s poor performance, "If you can get two runs off of Weaver and get him out after the fifth inning, you've done a real good job. We did both of those things, but the score was lopsided by then, We did exactly what we wanted to do with Weaver. He's a guy who's got great command, never gives in.”
Royals’ starter Luke Hochevar certainly proved devastating for his team with his poor three innings spell in which he gave total eight runs and nine hits. He looked tired on the mound and gave six earned runs as well along with a homer on 5.26 ERA.
