Los Angeles Angels overpower Boston Red Sox 14-13 – MLB Update

Los Angeles Angels overpowered the Boston Red Sox 14-13 in a thrilling encounter at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on Thursday, August 23 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Angels’ starting pitcher C.J. Wilson handled his nerves brilliantly in a high scoring nail biter. In five solid innings, he gave up seven runs while striking-out six of Boston’s batters. Relief pitcher Ernesto Frieri was awarded with the win after he successfully
held off Valentine and his men.
Mike Trout, once again, made his presence felt on the plate with RBI’s at critical stages of the game. Mark Trumbo and Vernon Wells also made useful contributions with the bat.
"This team still has some fight in it," outfielder Vernon Wells said in a post game interview. "We know we have a unique opportunity to do something special and, hopefully, we can continue to take advantage of it."
"I saw the way it bounced off so I assumed it was a home run," he further added, "but once I got in [the clubhouse], they told me otherwise, but we'll take it. It was a great game to be a part of. We've come out on the wrong end of a lot of those games in
the last couple of weeks."
With their superb win over the Red Sox, Los Angeles also completed a memorable series victory at Fenway Park. Using the playing conditions brilliantly, the Angels snatched a 5-3 win in series opener.
Mike Scioscia and company continued the good work in Game 2 of the series as well as they outclassed the Red Sox for a 7-3 victory. The Red Sox put up a great fight in the finale but found the Angels too strong to be overcome. Despite an outstanding offensive
performance, Bobby Valentine and company were unable to grab a win.
After losing to the Angels, the Red Sox are pretty much out of the season. It will be great to see if they give their fans some things to cheer about in these closing stages of the season.
