Los Angeles Angels power past Texas Rangers 6-2 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels power past the Texas Rangers 6-2 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 31 at Rangers Ballpark in Texas.
Star slugger Albert Pujols and Jered Weaver proved the difference in the Angels’ superb win. Both played tremendously and earned a great victory for their team.
Pujols hit two homers and Weaver pitched 6.1 solid innings to help Angels’ ease past the last year’s World Series qualifiers.
Pujols earned two runs in total on his two hits while he also added two RBIs in his team’s great win.
Weaver allowed only two runs, five hits and two earned runs on his 2.29 ERA. He struck-out three while his total contribution stood tall against the Rangers’ dire offence.
"Any time we can gain some games on these guys, especially in their home park, it's clutch, We're getting down to the nitty-gritty where we need to get some wins going. It's nice to take the first two from these guys, but obviously you can't take them lightly. We still have two against them and we need to come out and play the same kind of baseball we've been playing," Weaver said after the game and explained about his outing.
He added and further explained about his performance which proved one of the winning factors for his team, "That bullpen gets really hot down there, so you're pretty much gassed before the game even starts, It was a little bit cooler down here in the cage."
Centre fielder Mike Trout also played well for the Angels as scored two runs and two RBIs.
On the other hand, the Rangers’ starting pitcher Derek Holland received some heavy blows from the Angels’ hitters.
He allowed six runs, five hits in his 6.2 innings while he also gave six earned runs on 4.96 ERA.
Josh Hamilton and Michael Young were the only players from the Rangers’ roster who scored one run each in the play while rest of their players failed miserably and could not play their natural game and eventually lost in the end with bitter disgrace.
