Los Angeles Angels receive 5-7 hammering from Toronto Blue Jays – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels received a bitter 5-7 hammering from Toronto Blue Jays in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Friday, June 29 at Rogers Centre in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Angels, despite going early into the lead could not stop the Blue Jays’ batting line-up which scored in quick successions and ousted their opponents with ease.
"We just didn't set the tone early enough on the mound, Ervin got through the first couple of innings and in the fourth just missed with some spots." Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia said after the game and explained about the major errors his team made which
proved disastrous for them.
First baseman Adam Lind smashed a two run homer in the bottom fourth and helped the Blue Jays to power past the Angels in the second game of the series.
"It's definitely a relief to hit a home run and help the team win, This is the team that I belong with." Lind said with confidence and commented on his wonderful game.
Later Blue Jays’ manager John Farrell commented on Lind’s performance and said, "He's just in a better place mentally, The struggles that he had earlier in the year were well documented, he needed to get a little bit of a breather to kind of free some things
up.”
This game was also important to win for the Blue Jays’ as they lost the previous game of the series 9-7.
Los Angeles’ starter Ervin Santana did not play well against the Blue Jays. He pitched five innings and received seven hits, five runs and five earned runs. He was only able to strike-out two batters as his ERA rose to 5.12.
"To me, when you give up five runs it's not a good outing," said Santana.
Carlos Villanueva on the other hand, played well for the Blue Jays as he tossed five innings and received three runs on seven hits along with three earned runs. His ERA of 3.52 also remained consistent.
Striking-out six hitters as well, the Blue Jays’ starter certainly proved one of the winning factors in his team’s win.
