Los Angeles Angels right fielder Torii Hunter meets team manager behind closed-doors – MLB News
The Los Angeles Angels’ management is taking some drastic steps forward on every player’s concerns and different professional issues.
Recently, the Angels skipper Mike Scioscia has met with left fielder Torii Hunter in a private meeting before the game against the Oakland Athletics last Thursday night and discussed some issues regarding his game and how his game will improve in the coming days.
However, after the meeting, Torii refused to talk with any media personal regarding the important meeting he had with team manager Scioscia. He was quite sure that if he mentioned anything regarding this particular meeting, the media will definitely misinterpret the whole talk.
Hunter said, “I refused to discuss what I talked to the manager about, we just talked about some DH days -- there will probably be a few in my future. Different stuff like that. It wasn’t nothing; we’re trying to get some guys in there.”
Torii Hunter, who came into the Los Angeles Angels franchise in 2008, is currently playing aggressive and carrying a hitting average of .263 along with six RBIs and .344 OBP. On the other hand, his career hitting percentage of .274, 281 home-runs, 1057 RBIs and .333 OBP, certainly represent his calibre of being a 15-year veteran in Major League Baseball.
On contrary to Torii Hunter and his late meeting with manager, the Angels' management including Mike Scioscia is also focusing on some other players’ playing positions and the issues they are facing at the moment.
Mark Trumbo is the latest subject of Angels’ management, who is facing some position changing strategies for the rest and for this season onwards.
Scioscia said for Trumbo as he, "has had some good workouts at third base and is getting closer to getting back there." He also hinted that he wouldn’t hesitate playing Trumbo in the outfield. Mark has the potential to be an every-day first baseman, third baseman and corner outfielder,"
Experts say that this is a healthy sign as the Angels are taking these kinds of steps forward regarding their players’ certain issues and also trying their best to resolve very argument with a special ease.
