Los Angeles Angels rout Baltimore Orioles 13-1 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Baltimore Orioles in the second game of the their two match regular series encounter on Wednesday, June 27 at Oriole Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
This was the second straight win for the Angels over the Orioles as with this victory the Los Angeles side also won the two-game series 2-0.
"Look at how we've been hitting the ball over the last five or six days, Not only are we hitting the ball for power and slugging percentage, but we have also been moving them around, running the bases better and driving in runs. Right now, you're starting
to see a team that is coming into its own and beginning to play at a high level. We're a different team than we were 45 days ago.” manager Mike Scioscia said in detail about his team’s great win.
Starter Jered Weaver played well for the Angels and proved one of the winning factors as he received only one run on six hits. He also retired six batters while his ERA remained consistent at 2.31.
Centre-fielder Mike Trout played brilliantly on his six at-bats as he made three runs on four hits. He also made one RBI as his slugging percentage reached .532.
Right-fielder Torii Hunter also contributed an essential four runs and two RBIs in the Angels’ superb win.
Designated hitter Kendrys Morales added four RBIs and Alberto Callaspo along with Erick Aybar made one run each which clearly gave the Angels enough confidence to oust the Orioles in style.
Starter Jason Hammel played poorly for the Orioles as he was hammered with eight runs on eight hits while he only struck-out two opposing batters with his 3.29 ERA.
Baltimore Orioles’ with back-to-back defeats are now standing at second position in the American League East with 41-34 win-loss record along with .547 winning percentage. In order to qualify for the post season, they must lift their winning percentage to
.600.
The Angels will be happy with their performance in the series as they managed to dominate from the start. The Orioles will be looking to improve their game-play and become more competitive.
