Los Angeles Angels rout Texas Rangers 7-4 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Texas Rangers 7-4 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 22 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in California.
Angels’ played an attacking game from start of the play and earned a great victory in the end. It was Angels’ second victory in the series as they rattled the Rangers 2-1 in their three-match encounter and strengthened their winning percentage which will
prove wonderful for them in the race for a potential post season spot.
The Rangers however, did not play well and lost the game. They could have played better but their experienced players looked tired in the field as they never showed any fighting spirit during the entire game and eventually lost in the end.
Overall the game was played at a high pace but the Angels proved unplayable to the Rangers and won in the end.
“Josh wasn't very good tonight, but I'll take him in that situation every time whether he's struggling or swinging good," Rangers’ manager Ron Washington said. "He was in the right situation, he just didn't get it done. He was locked in, he just got beat."
Starter Matt Harrison was hammered four runs on eight hits while he gave four earned runs as well. He was only able to strike-out four Angels’ batters as his ERA remained at 3.02.
"Yeah, that was the biggest thing, a lot of pressure at-bats with guys on base in every inning," Harrison said. "They were swinging the bats tonight. I was just trying to minimize the damage and keep it close."
On the other hand, the Angels’ starter Dan Haren played wonderfully for his team. He pitched six innings and received only two runs on three hits while he gave two earned runs as well as his ERA remained consistent at 4.76.
Not only the pitchers, but the Angels’ hitters also played well and earned a great victory for their team.
Slugger Albert Pujols and Bobby Wilson smashed one homer each while along with their combined five RBIs, the Angels’ easily surpassed the Texas Rangers offence and hammered them with a humiliating defeat.
