Los Angeles Angels’ scorers comment on Ricky Romero’s strong display in recent encounter

The Los Angeles Angels were unfortunate on Monday, September 19 to lose to the Toronto Blue Jays 2-3 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
The team had a tough time against Ricky Romero, who started for the home team. The starter was a formidable opponent on the mound and the Angels had a hard chance to come back from 2-2 to gain a lead in the game.
The Angels however had their luck with two home runners, Torii Hunter and Mark Trumbo. Hunter smashed the first home-run of the game in the first inning and placed his club on the leading spot. Trumbo smashed his homer in the top of the fifth. His shot allowed
the Angels to equalise.
The Angels however could not go further from that end as Romero moved to pitch nine innings against the American League West club. He allowed just two runs from six hits. He picked up five strike-outs and an earned runs average of 2.98.
The Angels’ scorers were open about Romero and gave their impression of the player in good light.
"I was praying," Right fielder Torii Hunter said. "I was trying to get something up and out over the plate. Anything middle in was going to cut back - two-seamer, cutter, curveball. He was on top of his game tonight."
"I got something up and was able to get extended," Mark Trumbo spoke of Romero, who has won eight of his previous 11 starts with one loss. "He was really tough. It's hard to believe the guy has lost 10 games with his stuff."
Toronto manager John Farrell may not have been lucky with most of the pitchers in the roster but he has a lot of good quality in Romero. The starter has been a foundation in the club, this season and his role on the mound has dominated the news in Major
League Baseball.
Furthermore, the player is still looking keen to pass 15 wins this season. With less than ten games remaining in the season, it is safe to assume his 32nd game will be his last for the 2011 regular season.
