Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols pushed at defensive plate – MLB News
The star slugger and former St. Louis Cardinals’ power hitter Albert Pujols is not having a good outing in the current Major League Baseball season.
His form is not giving any impression as he has been acquired by the Los Angeles Angels with almost $240 million; instead his playing strategy seems bit defensive which over the years used to be one of the most aggressive playing strategies among his all
league teammates.
No one in the Angels’ organisation knows that what is happening with Pujols. A player who is known to be the best hitter in the Major League suddenly went defensive with his approach is certainly a very serious issue for many including for Pujols and for
the well wishers and loyal supporters of South Los Angeles baseball franchise. However, from no one and from no side, any answer has come.
Pujols, who is still seeking a proper adjustment against the American League pitchers, is playing much up, but with no solid hitting, he still remains homerless in total 84 at bats and the hitting average is also slumping with every game he plays.
With lots of support still in the Angels’ camp for Pujols, the team manager Mike Scioscia is taking things differently regarding every angle of Pujols’ plays.
"There's been a little cat-and-mouse game as he's trying to figure out what pitchers are doing," Manager Mike Scioscia said. "There's no doubt that at times he's been a little bit passive in trying to figure things out and gotten into some poor hitting counts.
And at times he's expanded his zone and gotten into some poor counts by being too aggressive. He'll figure it out."
"If he hasn't hit a home run after 300 at-bats, we'll have another conversation," Scioscia added. "But I think he's going to find it."
The is a good thing that team manager is staying behind Pujols, but in the meanwhile, this is still an alarming sign for the Angels that their one of the best players in the roster is not performing at the moment and to avoid any serious trouble in the near
future, they must try to give him more confidence attaining his conventional game back.
