Los Angeles Angels star slugger Albert Pujols not worried over slow start – MLB News
Former St. Louis Cardinals’ and current Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols is not worried over his slow start in this year’s Major League Baseball season and focusing on his team’s results.
With a .217 percentage, Pujols is not having a good time so far in the season with lots of criticism is also coming in on his not up to the mark batting since he has joined the Angels.
However, Pujols on the other hand is not worried and stating publically that his full focus at the moment is on his team’s success only and he is not looking any kind of miracle performance from his side for the moment.
Pujols said in detail, "Not to be cocky, but I know I can hit. I showed that in spring, I've shown that for 11 years, and it's not going to go away like that, I'm trying to stay inside the ball and not think too much. But I think that's what's been going on the last few days; I'm thinking too much.”
He added, “You look at our lineup, nobody is hitting good, we haven't clicked, You have a tendency to try to do too much the first week of the season, but it's not how you start, it's how you finish."
Lately, the Angels’ have lost to Minnesota Twins 10-9 where Pujols also could not perform well. Albert Pujols, who is coming into this season with 10-year hefty $240 million contract, is considered one of the best players in the Major League, who last season helped the Cardinals to win the World Series where his performance remained consistent at .353 batting average with five homers and 16 RBIs in 18 total postseason games.
Talking about his slow start, this is not the first time he started slow, but back in 2003, his batting average remained also low at .241 in first eight games of the season.
On the other hand, despite all these stats of his slow early starts, majority of the baseball experts rate him high looking at his career batting average of .328 along with 445 home-runs, 1331 RBIs and .420 OBP.
